Ninth Circuit Court Gets One Right!

On Thursday (03/11/10).the most liberal court in the history of the United States, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, upheld as constitutional the phrases, “One Nation Under God”, found in the Pledge of Allegiance, as well as, “In God We Trust” on our currency. In doing so, the Ninth Circuit rejected two legal challenges by Michael Newdow, a rabid atheist.

Newdow argued that the phrases, “One Nation, Under God” and "In God We Trust", disrespected his personal religious beliefs. Judge Carlos Bea, who wrote the majority decision, said, “The Pledge is Constitutional."..." The Pledge of Allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our Republic was founded."

The same reasoning was applied to the phrase “In God we trust”.

The extremely liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, is the most frequently overturned circuit court in American history, it has been frequently overturned by the US Supreme Court. In earlier case (2002) that challenged the Pledge of Allegiance, the 9th CC ruled in Newdows favor. Only to have the Supreme Court rule that Newdow lacked standing. So, it is somewhat of a shock to learn that the 9th Circuit Court actually upheld references to God as constitutional. As one attorney said, “maybe, just maybe they have finally read the Constitution?”

For now we give praise to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for a job well done; and we express our hope that this a sign of good decisions to come.

We can only hope that this ruling is a sign of things to come.
