The not so funny joke in Washington is that if you tell Congress a secret, you also tell CNN and the New York Times. That is why the CIA destroyed the “torture” tapes. To keep the contents out of enemy hands!
It is well established that at some point, when an attack on the White House was needed or they wanted to further the Congressional War on America by aiding and abetting the enemies of the U.S., some member of Congress would decide that the time had come to expose the tapes.
Congress knew all about the interrogations because they had been briefed on and had approved them.
The information that was on those tapes has been used to thwart many terrorist attacks, here and abroad. It is important that the terrorist’s not know what we know.
Therefore, for national security,. it was necessary to destroy the tapes before they became "evidence" for Congress to leak.
What members of Congress are upset about is that they have nothing to leak. And just when the polls show that the War on America is failing.

Sounds right to me!
Pelosi, who claimed just a month or so back that she knew nothing about waterboarding, now admits being briefed in 2002 and wondering if that method was tough enough.
Will we ever get the truth?
