Jack Murtha Is A Liar -- He Is Not Above The Law

Several months ago while running for reelection to Congress, in an effort to win more seats in the House and Senate for fellow Democrats, Jack Murtha falsely accused Marines of committing murder.

Rep. John Murtha, D-Pennsylvania, called a press conference to tell reporters that he had information that Marines had killed innocent men, women, and children. He also told reporters that he got his information from U.S. commanders.

"He further stated, “The investigation will show that the Marines deliberately killed the civilians. “

"There was no firefight. There was no IED that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood,"

"They actually went into the houses and killed women and children," the congressman said.

However, what the investigation revealed was the Murtha had in fact, lied.

Now some of the Marines that were Murtha’s victims are suing him for ‘defamation’.

Murtha cannot deny what he said as it is well documented and videos of the TV shows are available on the Internet.

So what is the Congressman’s defense?

His lawyers have told the Judge, that as a member of Congress, Rep. Murtha can at anytime, in any place, tell any lie that he wishes about anything or anyone and he is immune from prosecution.

So far the Judge is not convinced that this immunity applies outside the House chambers.

A fitting punishment would be for the Marines to recall John Murtha to active duty so that he might be charged with ‘Conduct Unbecoming a Marine Officer’ or even ‘Gross Misconduct’. After conviction, he should be stripped of all rank and privileges and given a “Dishonorable” discharge.

The Corp is not going to do that, so hopefully the Court will deal with him appropriately.

Jack Murtha has disgraced the U.S. Marine Corp., the state of Pennsylvania, and even the state of West Virginia where he was born.

And if it is possible to bring further disgrace to the House of Representatives, he has done that too!

I just read that Murtha "Earmarked" $150,000,000 to his reelection donors.

What happened to the "No more earmarks" pledge that Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats said was the new policy?
