Blaming Big Oil For The Sins Of Congress

Congress is once again holding PLACE THE BLAME HEARINGS..

These hearings are not actually about fixing the petroleum shortage and they are not about fixing the high cost of gasoline!

They are for the sole purpose of making certain that the blame for CONGRESSIONAL FAILURES is transferred to BIG OIL.

Congress could have fixed the problem 20 years ago, but instead of fixing, they have chosen to exacerbate the problem at least once per year, each of those 20 years.

They have done so by enacting ridiculous regulations and they have done so by prohibiting the tapping of our own vast reserves. They have prohibited the tapping of several TRILLION barrels of oil under Colorado and Wyoming, 100’s of billions of barrels of oil in the Golf of Mexico, and equal volumes on both coasts, not to mention the billions of cubic feet of natural gas. Their actions are clearly aimed at ending the use of fossil fuels, even though there is no viable alternative at this time.

They have made it extremely difficult for the conversion of coal to SYNFUELS that burn cleaner than petroleum based fuels and that can be distributed via the current systems. Best of all, it requires zero change to cars, trains, aircraft, or any other system that currently burns any liquid fuel. Jet aircraft reduce emissions by over 70% when burning Synfuels made from Coal or Natural Gas!

This Blog has several postings which document the advantages of Synfuels, we’re not going to rehash them here.

It would be refreshing if the oil executives would make their opening remarks by stating the facts.

Opening Remarks should go like this--
“You have once again called us before your committee so that you can rant and shout, point an accusatory finger and pretend to be belligerent toward your invited “witnesses”; in a ridiculous effort to blame others for your own wrong doings!

Well sirs, we are tired of you wasting our time and yours.

One of your questions is always to ask, “Why has the oil industry not found any alternative fuels? “ The answer to that question is simple. Our industry is oil! It is not our job to discover another fuel. It is our job to discover new sources of petroleum, and build refineries to process that oil; both of which you have steadfastly prevented us from doing! Having said that, petroleum producers have invested more than $100 Billion in alternative energy research.

If Congress wants to resolve this problem, they need to take down the road blocks that you have created, get the hell out of the way and let Capitalism fix the problem”

The Democrats see Capialism as the enemy, not the solution!

I watched the Senate hearings yesterday.

It was obvious that the Senators were not even listening to what the oil executives were saying, it was all for show.

Congress is the problem!

The oil executives must read this blog, because they did do several of the things that you suggested.

The oil company executives must really enjoy the sarcastic remarks made by Senator Dick Durbin.
You know who I mean, Dick Durbin is Barack Obama's puppetmaster in the Senate (and elsewhere I guess as well).
